Best paint for wooden garden fence and shed in wet climate?
My wooden fence and shed are looking faded and a bit green from moss/algae. Need a paint that protects against rain, UV, and mould, preferably with some colour options. Water-based or oil-based? Any that don’t need constant redoing every year?

For outdoor wood in Ireland, you want something microporous so the timber can breathe but still repels water. Water-based fence/shed paints are easier to apply and clean up, plus less smell. I used a good exterior woodstain/paint combo last summer – two coats, and it’s still looking fresh despite the wet winter.

Tikkurila Valtti or Sadolin ones hold up well here. Darker colours hide weathering better. What colour are you going for?
